Description

This is considered the most powerful and important Yantra. This Yantra consists of the Bhopura with three rings, a 16-petalled lotus, an 8-petalled lotus, 14 triangles, 10 outer triangles, 10 inner triangles, 8 triangles, a single triangle and a bindu.

The version with five upward pointing and four downward pointing triangles is called the Yantra of Shrishti Kram. (Evolution) – represented in this work. The opposite is most commonly found in modern India, and is called the yantra of Samhar Kram (dissolution).

  1. Bindu: the point inside the central triangle and the centre of the yantra is called the chakra of Sarva Anandmayi (total bliss). Bindu is the seed of the entire universe. During meditation on the Shri Yantra, you can worship the eternal union of Shiva and Shakti by concentrating on the Bindu.
  2. Trikon – this is the main triangle in which the bindu is located. Trikon is created by the radiance of the bindu. The three sides of the trikon represent the three gunas (sattva, rajas and tamas). Meditation on this chakra gives power.
  3. Ashtar – is the group of 8 triangles around the main triangle in the centre. It is also known as the Sarva Rog Har Chakra – a chakra that destroys all disease. The eight triangles and the main triangle – nine are called the Navdvar Chakra, which is the foundation stone of the phenomenal world. The worship of Ashtar, Trikon and Bindu gives us protection, power and bliss, while taking away ailments.
  4. Antardashar is the group of ten triangles surrounding Ashtar. It is also known as the Sarva Rakshar Chakra since it provides all kinds of protection. The protection comes from inner discipline – when you control the five organs of action and five organs of sense or 10 indriyas
  5. Bahirdashar is the group of 10 triangles that surround Antardashar. It is also known as Sarva Arth Sadhak Chakra i.e. the chakra that makes all types of realization possible. The 10 shaktis that represent the 10 triangles regulate the 10 pranas. Meditation of this chakra helps you control the prana, which helps you control your mind. Mind works through the 10 Indriyas.
  6. Chaturdashar – is the group of 14 outermost triangles is known as Sarva Saubhagya Dayak Chakra – which gives you good fortune. The 14 yonis control the 14 ‘ nadis’.
  7. Ashtadal – the ring of 8 lotus petals is also known as Sarva Sankshoban Chakra. These petals are the seats of 8 Goddesses, which symbolizes 8 functions.
  8. Shodashdal – is the ring of 16 petals. It is also known as Sarva Ashapurak Chakra, which fulfils all your hopes and materializes your expectations. The 16 petals represent 5 elements, ten indriyas and mind. The two rings of lotus petals represent the lunar energy, while the groups of 43 triangles are related to solar energy. The combination of lunar and solar energy represents the unity of mind and soul of supreme meditation.
  9. The Bhopura- is the square with four gates. It is also known as Traiyolok Mohan Chakra or the chakra, which attracts the three lokas – or planes – physical, astral and celestial.

In summary, Sri Yantra is very powerful which brings together the power of Shiva and Shakti, which together creates the cosmos. Meditation on Sri Yantra should be done in daytime.
